About Us

RVO Department Store was opened by Peter and Glenn in the early 1990s in the old CH Martin location inside Rochdale Village Mall 1 on Baisley Blvd. The space had been used for storage by Rochdale Village, but we saw an opportunity to bring something valuable to the neighborhood: a true discount store spanning over over 13,000 square feet with great prices and a wide range of goods. With encouragement from the Board of Directors of Rochdale—who had seen our success in our  Bronx store—we knew this was the right place to put down roots. Backed by years of experience running stores in Brooklyn since 1977, we built RVO with the goal of offering something special and useful to the local community.

From day one, we’ve focused on variety, value, and serving the people around us. Our shelves are stocked with a mix of merchandise you won’t find anywhere else in the city, from everyday essentials to home goods—now including popular Bed & Bath items our customers love. We hire from local neighborhoods and proudly reflect the diversity of these neighborhoods in our staff. With a large safe, free parking lot next to the precinct, wheelchair access, and Rochdale security in the parking lot and within the mall, the mall is a welcoming place to shop, connect, and spend the day. RVO stands as part of a vibrant shopping center that includes a New York Post Office, a Rainbow Store, a remodeled Key Food Super Market, Sterling Optical, nail salon and much more—making it a true one-stop destination. We’re proud to still be here, keeping prices affordable and continuing to support the community that has supported us.
